EEF, The Bell Foundation and Unbound announce new £2m fund for EAL pupils
A new £2m funding round focused on raising the attainment of children classified as having English as an Additional Language (EAL) from economically disadvantaged backgrounds has been announced
A new £2m funding round focused on raising the attainment of children classified as having English as an Additional Language (EAL) from economically disadvantaged backgrounds, has just been announced.
The EEF, The Bell Foundation and Unbound Philanthropy are seeking proposals from schools, local authorities, networks, research institutions, universities or other non-profit organisations who are interested in raising the attainment of children classified as having English as an Additional Language (EAL) from economically disadvantaged backgrounds.
Successful proposals will:
- focus on improving on improving learning outcomes for these pupils, and have some existing evidence of positive impact on their attainment;
- be funded to test the intervention across a number of schools in England;
- be evaluated by an independent evaluation team; and
- have the potential to be scaled-up further if shown to be cost-effective.
Applications to the fund will close at 5pm 1 October 2015
A briefing event for potential applicants is being hosted in Manchester on 10th September 2015 at 12.30. Like the previous London event it will provide an overview of the existing research and a chance to discuss the funding round's criteria and process.
