Issue two is out! NALDIC members will receive this issue today. For everyone else, here’s a little peek at our special issue on CPD for EAL …
Our cover features Bill Bolloten and Jonathan Brentnall (keynote speakers at NALDIC’s 24th annual conference). Inside you’ll find a full report and photo diary of the day, plus a specially commissioned piece by Bill based on his conference talk. (You’ll find Jonathan’s writing in issue one – he wrote an insightful commentary on the EAL stages in Wales.)
The contents pages give a flavour of what’s to come. The main feature is our review of Continuing Professional development for EAL. We have articles by Nandhaka Pieris and Diana Mann on their own master’s courses, with their advice for choosing your own. You’ll also find a carefully curated set of advertisements for CPD providers at all levels, from short courses to postgraduate qualifications. They are all excellent places to develop new skills and knowledge, and we hope you’ll find it useful!
Scroll through these images to get previews of key articles … Catharine Driver shares Tried and Tested resources for GCSE PE, Paul Nancarrow shows how to use students’ first languages to develop their conceptual language in English, Lisa-Maria Müller reviews the literature on language impairment and bilingualism.
You’ll also find our regular features – news, commentary, bite-sized research shorts, book reviews and the blogs worth following – plus a few gems to discover as you read.
We hope you enjoy reading it as much as we did putting it together, and enormous thanks as always to our production team and our contributors. Happy reading!
