Theme: Nurseries of Sanctuary
NALDIC Special Interest Groups (SIGs) have developed in response to requests from members who want to raise the profile of EAL and bilingualism in a specific area of interest.
Join us on Thursday 19th January for our fourth Special Interest Group meeting specifically for those who work in, or have an interest in Early Years!
In this meeting, we are delighted to welcome Cerian Appleby who will share with us her school’s journey to becoming a ‘School of Sanctuary’ and the creative ways her school’s Nursery children and families have been engaged and participated in the whole experience.
Speaker
Cerian Appleby – I am the Expressive Arts and Schools of Sanctuary Lead at St. Joseph’s Cathedral Primary School, Swansea. I currently co-lead the Swansea Schools of Sanctuary Educational Network with members of the LA and City of Sanctuary. The network works with schools to develop schools as inclusive, welcoming communities. It assists in the development of sanctuary work and engagement in particular, with asylum seekers and refugees to make schools safe spaces, where all are welcome and where the basic human right to sanctuary is understood.
