Following guidelines that have been issued in Chorlton High School, they have been directed to postpone all non-essential meetings, trips and visits. Therefore, we are postponing our Naldic RIG meeting due to be held on Thursday at Chorlton High School. I hope you will agree that this is in everyone’s best interests.
We will be in touch when the current situation improves and hope to be able to pick up with the same venue and focus as planned.

Pastoral needs of pupils who have experienced trauma or displacement
Please get in touch as soon as you can to confirm your attendance or apologies, so that we can plan
for refreshments and resources.
Susannah from Chorlton High has very kindly offered to host the meeting, which will run from 4pm
until 6pm with refreshments available from 3.30. The address for Chorlton High is:
The school is also just 5 minutes walk from St Werburgh’s tram stop. The school’s contact page has
other useful travel information: https://www.chorltonhigh.manchester.sch.uk/contact
Our focus for the meeting is meeting the pastoral needs of pupils who have experienced trauma or
displacement and we’ve got a really interesting programme planned:
- Gill Adey, school counsellor at Abraham Moss, will talk us through basic attachment
theory and will also look at some strategies that EAL staff can use for themselves.
- Natalie Stables and colleagues from Salford EMTAS will share information about Schools
of Sanctuary, The Mental Health First Aider Programme and a project with an
organisation called Just Psychology, aimed at improving INA EHWB.
- Susannah Haygarth’s colleague from Chorlton High will talk about the work that she has
carried out with pupils in this area.
- Hannah Issah will talk about building resilience with the Pharos project and (hopefully) a representative from One Education’s Emotional and Trauma Support Service will provide some information about all the different therapeutic interventions that they can provide to support INAs who are failing to thrive.
There is no charge for attending this event. Please let me Carol know as soon as you can.
They are looking forward to seeing you at the meeting!
