NALDIC’s Regional Interest Groups help teachers and other education professionals working with EAL learners to get together, stay informed about developments in the EAL field and share best practice.
The 15th North East RIG Meeting invites all educators, researchers, and policymakers with an interest in language development and support for multilingual learners. This informative and engaging event, convened by Diane Embley and Rashda Salamat, focuses on enhancing language skills both within and outside the classroom.
Fiona Cocksey from Education Support Services, Gateshead, will commence the meeting with an exploration of the online tool, Flash Academy. This platform employs interactive games as an effective strategy for language development.
Laura Harvey from Northumberland will then present on supportive activities employed at Dukes Academy Ashington that bolster language development. Additionally, Laura will discuss the school’s international links and the value of EAL enrichment clubs.
Subsequently, Zuzana Puente from Education North Tyneside will delve into the ‘Power of Rhymes’, illustrating how rhyme contributes to language learning.
The meeting will conclude with Diane Embley, also from Education North Tyneside, explaining the benefits of outdoor activities for advancing language development.
This event is set to be a powerful forum for exchanging ideas, gaining valuable insights, and connecting with professionals who share the same interests. It will take place both on Zoom and in person at Wallsend St. Peter’s Primary School, NE28 6PY.
