Ewelina O’Donnell is an EAL and English teacher at St Francis’ College in Letchworth and a Bell Foundation Licensed Practitioner. She has over 25 years of teaching and lecturing experience across a range of educational settings. Before joining St Francis’, she worked in schools and universities in Poland and Northern Ireland, and as an English teacher and EAL Lead in a secondary school in Hertfordshire. She also supports multilingual learners at the Polish Saturday School in Hitchin.
Ewelina’s particular passion is languages and multilingual education. Central to her practice is the belief that EAL learners should be recognised as valuable assets to the school community and that their linguistic and cultural knowledge enriches learning for everyone. She is committed to promoting an asset-based, whole-school approach to EAL provision and creating meaningful opportunities for students to discover the purpose, value and enjoyment of learning languages and exploring other cultures.
Ewelina presents academic papers at national conferences and, as a Bell Foundation Licensed Practitioner, provides training for teachers and other education professionals. She is passionate about sharing best practice, promoting multilingualism and supporting teachers to create inclusive classrooms in which multilingual learners can participate, contribute and thrive.
