NALDIC has worked in partnership with The Bell Foundation on areas relating to EAL. Our first partnership project was the provision of short courses for EAL co-ordinators and teaching assistants over the summer of 2012. They also supported our EAL Project Officer for three years. Recent collaborations include a webinar on supporting EAL learners during and after school closures during the pandemic.
Through generating and applying evidence, The Bell Foundation aims to improve policy, practice and systems to enable children, adults and communities in the UK who use EAL to overcome disadvantage through language education.
In 2013 The Bell Foundation launched the EAL Programme which aims to improve the educational outcomes, opportunities and integration of children and young people who use EAL in the UK by:
- Supporting classroom practice through sustainable teacher training.
- The development of classroom tools and resources.
- By influencing policymakers and stakeholders through the dissemination of research.
