Understanding Multilingual Children’s Language Development (FutureLearn online course)
This free-to-access three-week course, from online provider FutureLearn working with the University of Reading, is aimed at teachers, speech and language therapists, and parents wanting to know more about how to support children learning in more than one language. It is endorsed by NALDIC and the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists.
Content contributors are experts from the University of Reading’s Institute of Education and School of Psychology and Clinical Language Sciences. Drawing on their research and practical experiences with teachers and speech and language therapists, they present a series of three learning units aimed at raising awareness and understanding of the benefits of multilingualism and celebration of heritage languages. Content showcases outstanding practitioners, and children from schools known for their excellent multilingual practice and positive orientations to diversity.

NALDIC and Chartered College of Teaching Partnership | EAL training
NALDIC is delighted to be working in partnership with The Chartered College of Teaching to deliver termly online training webinars that are open to NALDIC and CCT members.
At each event there will be a presentation by an expert in one element of EAL teaching and learning, followed by time for audience members to reflect on key messages in breakout rooms before they return for a plenary session.
In the first of these, in October 2020, Naomi Flynn ( NALDIC Chair of Events) introduced the audience to some research-to-practice ideas for great EAL pedagogy.
