Description
A focus on assessment, with particular reference to the English language learning needs of EAL pupils, is the theme for this edition of NALDIC quarterly. Given the changes to assessment generally that we are currently experiencing across all key phases, now is the time to consider EAL assessment and its place within the curriculum. We are in a changing educational landscape and entering uncharted waters with reference to a post Levels world. At the time of writing this, we await news from the government on the expected standards at different phases and how these will translate to external national tests and examinations. Final GCSE English grades will soon be reported against a 9 band scale and we await to see what will be deemed to count as the equivalent of the current grade ‘C’ for subject English.
