Description
This edition of NALDIC Quarterly includes a focus on the training and professional development of teachers and teaching assistants. NALDIC members will be familiar with the ‘The EAL Teacher: Descriptors of Good Practice’ which we published in 2002 and which is available from the publications section of the website at www.naldic.org.uk In this edition we provide an updated and extended statement about EAL teacher professionalism which reflects the constantly changing role of specialists in our field. This statement was developed by a group of members at a NALDIC General Council meeting. Constant Leung provides a commentary on the statement and the evolving situation. We would welcome further comments from members and readers and would hope to publish these in future editions of NALDIC Quarterly.
