Description
During discussions at NALDIC Publications committee just over 18 months ago, the working title for this edition of NALDIC Quarterly was identified as ‘New ways of Working: The future for EAL’. We had hoped to bring readers an insight into ways of working which, despite uncertainties and constraints, would herald better times ahead. The announcement by the DCSF in March of the Consultation on the future of school funding and the accompanying plans to mainstream the EMA grant have led to a direct focus in this edition on the immediate funding challenges facing the field. As our leading article by Jill Rutter outlines, we need to be involved right now in lobbying for the future we wish for. This edition therefore brings a range of perspectives to bear on the issue of informed planning and future funding.
